DES is a full-service Oil Spill Response Organization (OSRO) certified by the state of Florida and U.S. Coast Guard. DES is an independent contractor in the National Response Corp. (NRC) network and maintains a significant inventory of NRC owned equipment. Over 30,000 feet of containment boom is available at the facilities in Tampa.
The DES oil response team has accumulated more than 15,000 hours of actual oil spill remediation within the Tampa Bay ecosystem. The team is on-call around the clock. As part of the full line of services, Pollution Abatement Surveys and sorbent product sales are offered.
The DES water treatment plant, the first of its kind in the Tampa Bay area, is conveniently located within the Port of Tampa. The dissolved air-flotation plant is a cost effective method of treating wastewater.
DES trucks are available anytime to pick up wastewater at any location or customers may deliver directly to the plant via their own trucks. Recovered oil, oil waste products, and oil slop are recycled or transported to approved disposal sites. Sludge is dewatered to approximately 70% solids, which is then incinerated at a resource recovery facility.
DES can provide tank cleaning services for land based or vessel petroleum tanks.
Tank cleaning and gas freeing methods include butterworthing and mucking. DES is the only company in the Tampa Bay area that uses a cleaning system that incorporates steam boilers to control the temperature from 160-220 degrees. This ensures the highest possible water temperature for optimal cleaning results.
DES will pick up used oil off vessels or land to be sent to processing centers to recycle. Our fleet of 9 vacuum trucks range in size from 3300 to 5500 gallons. Also available are semi tankers that can haul up to 7500 gallons.
